Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology

Description

Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology is a social science. Anthropologists investigate the ways in which people give meaning to different aspects of their life and the way they interact with each other, by looking at issues of diversity, gender, religion, economic and political behaviour, and use of (social) media. Students get acquainted with anthropological approaches to studying society by learning about (and practicing with) its research methods and its modes of representation.

Timetable

Time tables for each course, including the room numbers, are available from June 2024 via MyTimetable after course enrollment (more information about course enrollment can be found under the tab "Registration").

Admission

This minor is open in the first place to the bachelor students of Leiden University (with the exception of students who already study CADS as a major) and also students of TU Delft and Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Students from other universities can also participate if the available places are not taken by students from LU, TUD, and EUR and can apply by contacting the Student Services Center between 1 and 15 August.

NB: this minor is not open to students of Universities of Applied Sciences.

The maximum number of participants is 30, including the reserved places for TUD and EUR students.

NB: Please note that the minor should be completed within one academic year, because the programme can change next year. If by some chance you do not finish the minor within this academic year, you can request to finish it next year. In this case, students of Leiden University do not need to enroll for the whole minor again. In such cases, students need to contact the Study Coordinator and, if possible, she will enroll you for the courses you need to re-take.
