Internship MA Asian Studies

Course
2025-2026

An internship can be a valuable experience in preparation for the job market. MA Asian studies students have pursued internships at various embassies in Asia, with multinational corporations, museums and publishers, among others. You can follow an internship as an extracurricular activity, or exchange one elective with the work you complete for an internship.
If you are interested in following an internship, it is important to start early, and follow several steps:

  • Make an appointment with the study adviser to discuss the procedure and how it could fit in your study program and what you need to do to be assigned an internship supervisor from our program.

  • Make an appointment with the career services at the Faculty of Humanities, who can advise you on the process.

  • Write an internship plan with concrete learning objectives, using the faculty template. The internship plan includes, among others, a concrete description of activities, which align with the learning goals of the program and a project description, leading up to an internship report.

  • The plan needs to be discussed with the internship supervisor and submitted to the Board of Examiners of the MA Asian studies for approval (also if you follow the internship as an extra curricular activity).

  • The internship report must be submitted within 10 days of the completion of the internship to the internship supervisor for approval.
