Description
Introduction in the International and European specifics of public policies that impact on computing and the digital society: Data Protection regimes, Net Neutrality; Security and Surveillance policies, Public Policy and Corporate Involvement; Data and Science Policy; Connectivity as a Public Good. Policy regimes will be compared in order to understand their influence on quality data for machine-learning, AI and data science.
Course objectives
To provide tools to understand public policy on digital data management in a comparative perspective
To scope out key areas of international public policies and how these impact on the digital society and their consequences
To use analytical concepts and gain hands on skills in applying these to compare agenda-setting processes
To develop skills of how to prepare a Research Proposal: content, methods and key-topics
