Admission requirements
This course is only open for students enrolled in the Minor Human Evolution.
Description
With the acquired knowledge from the preceding courses students have to identify a field of special interest. During this module; they are expected to choose a topic of human evolution to review in more detail by writing an individual review that summarizes the existing knowledge and provides ideas that might advance the field. They will also present their topic in a flash talk at the end of the course.
Course objectives
After completion of this course; the student can:
Write an essay about a topic of free choice about human evolution.
Structure a critical review of ideas and evidence about a particular topic.
Summarize the topic in a very brief presentation.
Evaluate presentations of fellow students according to a scheme.

Teaching method
Introduction on the writing assignment and on verbal presentation.
Assesment method
Score on the quality of the produced review and the presentation (100%).
To pass the course a minimum assessment of 5.5 is required.

Reading list
Students will search for and obtain relevant literature for their review themselves.

Software
Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year; the Faculty of Science will use the software distribution platform Academic Software. Through this platform; you can access the software needed for specific courses in your studies. For some software; your laptop must meet certain system requirements; which will be specified with the software. It is important to install the software before the start of the course.
