Starting a new college life can be quite intimidating. This course will support students by introducing them to the computational and operational facilities available at LIACS. It will also help students develop the basic skills that they will need for their studies.
All lectures and practical sessions (and participation therein) are mandatory.
Introduce students to the university environment

This course has no final exam. There is a number of practical assignments, some of which are graded and others of which are pass/fail. To pass the course, all practical assignments must be passed and attendance must be sufficient. Graded assignments are passed if the grade is at least 5.5. The final grade of the course is a weighted average of the graded assignments, the weights being announced at the start of the course.
