Admission requirements
Only for students of the MA Asian Studies: Korean Studies.
Students will only be allowed to continue to attend the Year in Korea after passing the following courses:
- Study in Korea A
Description
Students spend a total of one year at a partner University in Korea as part of their Master program.
The main goal of the year abroad is to further develop students’ Korean language proficiency in order to obtain at least TOPIC5 upon returning to Leiden and conduct research for their MA thesis.

Advance the student’s Korean language proficiency and complete research for the MA thesis.

The type of courses followed varies depending on the partner University where students are placed.
Assessment method
Assessment and weighing
After completion of the courses, the official transcripts from the Korean partner university have to be submitted to the Board of Examiners of Asian Studies for approval.
Resit
Study abroad cannot be retaken. In case of unforeseen circumstances the exam committee and the programme can offer advice on alternative options.

Registration
Students do not have to register for this course.
