Admission requirements
This thesis seminar is for (third-year) students who are working on their BA Linguistics thesis (track Language and Cognition).
Description
The Thesis Seminar has two main objectives:
1. Informing students about the content and style of the BA-thesis
2. Supporting students in the BA writing process
The seminar consists of three sessions, roughly once each month. Students will learn about the content, style and structure of the BA thesis in relation to the empirical cycle, explain their research to each other, talk about the writing process, reflect on the goals of a BA thesis, and exchange experiences and solutions. A thesis manual will be made available on Brightspace.
Participation in the seminar is a mandatory part of the 10 EC BA thesis.
Course objectives
You will be able to reflect on the scientific, didactic and personal goals of writing a BA thesis.
You will be able to explain the structure of your BA thesis, and the role of each section and sub-section in relation to the empirical cycle.
You will be able to identify and discuss obstacles in the writing process and explore solutions.
You will be able to explain your BA thesis research to fellow students and reflect on its possible societal and scientific impact.
