This course introduces students to the field of International Political Economy (IPE) – the study of economic interactions between states, markets, and societies. The course begins with a focus on some key analytical approaches before moving on to exploration of empirical issues, and debates. Key issues to be explored include: trade, international monetary relations, the recent economic crisis, global inequality, and financial regulation.

Course Objectives:

Objective 1: To understand some of the core issues and debates within the field of international political economy.
Objective 2: To be able to apply analyticial approaches to these core issues and to be able to develop a critical unerstanding of these approaches.

Mode of Instruction:

This course will consist of two 2-hour lectures throughout the block.

Assessment Method:

Written exam.
65% Multiple Choice and 35% Short Answer/Essay.

The time and location of inspection and debriefing of the exam will be announced via Brightspace no later than the publication of the grades.
