Description

Introduction in the International and European specifics of public policies that impact on computing and the digital society: Data Protection regimes, Net Neutrality; Security and Surveillance policies, Public Policy and Corporate Involvement; Data and Science Policy; Connectivity as a Public Good. Policy regimes will be compared in order to understand their influence.

Course objectives

  • To provide tools to understand public policy on digital topics in acomparative perspective

  • To scope out key areas of international public policies and how these impact on the digital society and their consequences

  • To use analytical concepts and gain hands on skills in applying these to compare agenda-setting processes

Individual research and group work methods as well as instruction on general concepts.

Assessment method

Exam (50%)
Individual paper (50%)

The teacher will inform the students how the inspection of and follow-up discussion of the exams will take place.
